Gemini, the occasionally rude and playful “trickster.”
I’ve noted before my interest in astrology (and acknowledged the fact that not everyone takes it seriously). I’ll also note again that, even if one does not acknowledge predictive aspects in astrology, it does appraise basic archetypical attributes in human nature. If I tell someone with knowledge of astrology that I know someone with notable Gemini attributes, they’ll have a general idea of what such an individual is like.
There have been three American presidents born when the Sun was “in” the sign Gemini — John F. Kennedy, George Bush senior, and…(drum roll), Donald Trump. An individual possessing Gemini traits embodies attributes of the “trickster” archetype. Such an individual often has a facile communication skill and childlike demeanor, a game-player.
One can find both positive and negative expressions of an astrological archetype. Gemini can be playful and humorous and provide a light-hearted escape from weighty emotions.
On the negative side, a person with strong Gemini attributes is hard to take too seriously. They’re often unpredictable, unreliable, and uncommitted. They can often appear rude in their carefree chain of commentary.
What drove my attention to this topic was Donald Trump’s recent reference to “surprise attacks” to the Japanese prime minister. Among establishment media, the comments were a bit of a scandal. I laughed my head off — classic Trump. To most people, such a statement was beyond rude and definitely lacked the sense of decorum that the elite snob-class adheres too. I can’t outright defend the comment but this style of blunt improv is something I actually like. ‘Beats the hell out of Biden’s perpetually contrived seriousness. There are a few comedians now that one can find on YouTube who are notably “politically incorrect” — they’re hilarious. It’s the kind of humor one could seldom find a few years ago at the height of “woke” madness.
In the Astrology chart for America, the planet Mars is in Gemini. An astrologer might argue that this represents the archetype of masculinity in the culture, suggesting that the stereotypical male in America is a freewheeling prankster, cracking jokes and offending the prudish and stuck up.
I remember a professor of mine relaying an incident that occured before WWI where several diplomats were having dinner and the erratic — and somewhat insane — German Kaiser spilled a bowl of soup on his head. The reactions were telling. Supposedly, as the professor relayed it, the Brit described the incident as “most unfortunate.” The French diplomat saw it as "very rude." The Russian attendee quietly began writing some notes. The American slapped his knee and busted out laughing.
So, entertaining or rude, the Current President is a Gemini. It’s a package deal. In addition to all the usual policies and events one gets during a president’s tenure, you’ll get fun and games.
